2016 will be the 7th year Downtown St. John's has been organizing Reel Downtown. This event brings on average 1500 people Downtown every Monday night in July for free outdoor movies.
The event is so well attended that the audience starts showing up at 6:00 pm for a 9:00 pm show! They drop their lawn chairs and go for supper, coffee and shop etc. spending on average $18 per person.

The Annual Downtown St. John’s Tax Free Day has been set for Saturday, November 7, 2015. Over 70 participating stores! Most participating stores will be extending their business hours to 9:00 pm on Tax Free Day!

Motorists and pedestrians are advised that New Gower Street eastbound (both lanes) will be closed between Barters Hill and Queen Street beginning 7 am, Sunday, March 16 until Friday, March 21 to facilitate work on the St. John’s Convention Centre. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and expect significant delays.
