Many bars feature outdoor patios to enjoy the summer sun and the evening brings first rate live entertainment if you are in the mood for fun. George Street is famous for its rousing nightlife and the pubs along Water Street and Duckworth Street also offer a great night out. Add a generous helping of cafes with specialty coffees and desserts and you surely won't leave hungry.
Shopping
Downtown features the finest shopping available with fashionable clothing boutiques for men and women, unique specialty stores, and intricate handmade crafts. Arts galleries, bookstores and music stores featuring the work of local artists are scattered throughout the downtown. Be sure to pick up a memorable souvenir of your visit from the wide variety of gift shops with everything from t-shirts to one of kind sculptures and lots more.
Parking
There are over 800 parking meters along Water Street, Duckworth Street, Harbour Drive and the connecting coves. Meter rates are $1 per 60 minutes but after 6 p.m. on weekdays and all day on Saturday, Sunday and statutory holidays parking is free. In addition, several off street parking lots offer hourly and daily rates for parking.
Visitor Information
Information for visitors is available from the converted railcar on the Harbour front, the City Hall Annex on New Gower Street, the Downtown Development Commission at 155 Water Street and just about any shop, restaurant, pub and eatery in the downtown.
Banking
Each of Canada's major banks as well as trust companies operate on Water Street. Banking is accessible twenty-four hours a day seven days a week with Automated Teller Machines (ATM's) located at each of the banks. Teller service is also available, however its hours may vary by location.
