Downtown Snow Removal January 20, 2009 January 19, 2009

Motorists are advised that snow removal and/or street widening operations are in effect tonight. Beginning at 12:30 am and continuing until 7:30 am, Tuesday, January 20, 2009 snow will be removed or plowed on the following 8 streets.

1. George Street
2. Queen Street
3. Adelaide Street
4. Waldegrave Street
5. Buchanan Street
6. Hutchings Street
7. Prince Street
8. New Gower Street

All vehicles must be removed from the streets noted during this time period. Any vehicles impeding the operation will be removed and impounded at the owner's expense. The impounding fee is $90.40 plus $3.00 for each day the vehicle is held in storage.

Motorists are advised that snow removal and/or street widening operations are in effect tonight. Beginning at 12:30 am and continuing until 7:30 am, Monday, January 19, 2009 snow will be removed or plowed on the following 2 streets.
1. Water Street
2. Duckworth Street

All vehicles must be removed from the streets noted during this time period. Any vehicles impeding the operation will be removed and impounded at the owner's expense. The impounding fee is $90.40 plus $3.00 for each day the vehicle is held in storage.

Minimum Wage Increase Takes Effect in New Year January 1, 2009

Effective January 1, 2009, the minimum wage will increase by 50 cents to $8.50 per hour. Following its consideration of the views of employers and workers, Government announced its plan to increase the minimum wage through a schedule of four 50-cent increments beginning on January 1, 2009. This increase will be followed by a further 50 cent increase on each of July 1, 2009, January 1, 2010, and July 1, 2010.
