First Annual Savour Show Guaranteed to Satisfy April 17, 2008

Tempt your taste buds at the first annual Savour food & wine Show.

Savour, the largest food and wine show east of Montreal, has arrived in St. John’s and will take place this evening from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Delta St. John’s. The show will feature over 40 food, wine and beverage exhibitors. The Savour food & wine show is organized by the Restaurant Association of Newfoundland Labrador. RANL was recently established to positively affect change by identifying and addressing relevant issues to improve the operating environment of the restaurants and food service establishments in Newfoundland Labrador.

In addition to sampling gourmet products, consumers can vote for their favorite foods, beverages and booths in the Best of Show consumer’s choice. Results for the Best of Show will be announced by the end of April.

“Eating, drinking and socializing is what Savour is all about,” says Jennifer Barbour, President of RANL. “The term “mingle-licious” was used to describe the show by a consumer at one of the original shows and we feel that is a perfect definition for Savour.”

RANL, believes it is important for the food industry to help combat hunger in Newfoundland Labrador. A portion of the proceeds from the evening will be donated to Community Food Share Association, a registered charity to help feed the hungry.

For more information about the Savour food & wine Show and for a complete list of menu items for tonight’s show, visit www.eDining.ca and click on the Savour logo.

DDC Conducting Membership Survey April 3, 2008

Beginning Friday, April 4, 2008, surveyors from Ryan Research will be contacting members of the DDC to conduct a short, 8 to 10 minute telephone survey. The survey will provide necessary feedback from downtown businesses about DDC programs, overall satisfaction with the DDC and assist in the identification of important issues and attitudes about downtown St. John’s.

The DDC Board of Management will use the information collected in the survey as a part of a multi-year Strategic Plan and will be presented at the next AGM. The results will help make DDC programs and advocacy stronger. This survey will be the first conducted over the next several years. The DDC hope to gain a better understanding of attitudes of sub-groups within the downtown business community in order to meet their needs and to determine strategic opportunities.

If you receive a telephone call from a representative of Ryan Research please take the time to complete the survey. Your opinion is very valuable to us!
