Snow Clearing Alert Removal January 29 January 28, 2007

Motorists are advised that snow removal and/or street widening operations are in effect tonight. Beginning at 12:30 am and continuing until 7:30 am, Monday, January 29, 2007 snow will be removed or plowed on the following # streets.
1. Water St (from Prescott Street to Waldegrave Street)
2. Duckworth Street (from Cavendish Square to New Gower Street)
3. Harbour Drive
4. McBride's Hill

All vehicles must be removed from the streets noted during this time period. Any vehicles impeding the operation will be removed and impounded at the owner's expense. The impounding fee is $109.25 plus $3.00 for each day the vehicle is held in storage.

DDC Welcomes New Board- Mahoney Re-elected as Chair January 26, 2007

The DDC Board of Management welcomes two new Board members to its Board of Managament for 2007. Janet Kelly of Auntie Crae's and Susan Ledrew of Smyth Woodland Delrizzo Ledrew were elected to a two-year term.

Returning to the DDC Board of Management for an additional two years are Bill Mahoney of Regal Realty, Charles Cook of Sonco/A.P. Parking Garage, Ron Fougere of Ron Fougere & Associates and Phonse Miller of Gallery Shoes.

At the first meeting of the Board on Friday, January 26, Bill Mahoney was re-elected as DDC Chair, Anita Carroll of Posie Row was re-elected as Vice Chair and Charles Cook was re-elected as Treasurer.

Leaving the Board after serving for two-years was David Hiscock of Trapnells and Mary Andrews of Details and Designs.

The DDC Board of Management is comprised of twelve Board members. Other members of the Board are Catherine Perry or Perry Power Law; Peter Belbin of Peter Belbin's Steakhouse & Salad Bar; Mike Howard of the Model Shop; John McCarthy of Benjamin's and Neil Hardy of the Altus Group. The Board meets the second Wednesday of each month.

POSTERS ON DOWNTOWN UTILITY POLES January 2, 2007

The Arts Community, area businesses, and other interested parties are advised that the sheathing (Tyvek) installed on designated downtown utility poles for the purpose of placing advertising posters will be removed and replaced in 2007 on the following dates:

January 15th March 19th May 21st
June 18th July 16th August 20th
September 17th October 15th November 19th

You will note that the removal and replacement occurs on the third Monday of each month (except February, April & December). Advertisers should also note that the removal and replacement of the Tyvek may take more than one day and the schedule may be delayed by adverse weather conditions.

Help us eliminate litter by ensuring that your posters are securely attached and by using only the designated poles which have Tyvek attached to them.

(c) in any other municipality, the day fixed by the council as a public holiday therein.


The Shops Closing Act requires that all shops, other than those defined as exempt shops, be closed on the above holidays.
