ScotiaMcLeod, in conjunction with the Downtown Development Commission (DDC), will be hosting a business succession planning session on Tuesday, June 22 from 8:30 am to 9:30 am. This informal session will be held in the ScotiaMcLeod Boardroom (ScotiaCentre) and will focus on steps you can take to revise or begin the process of your business succession planning. These sessions have been held in the past and have proven to be very beneficial to those who attend and have been kept to an hour to take into account your busy schedules.
A business often represents a lifetime of work and vision. However, despite almost three-quarters of business owners wanting to transfer, control or exit ownership within the next decade, barely a third have a formal succession plan in place and 65% do not have a plan whatsoever. Lack of a plan is also the most common reason a family business fails to survive first-to-second generation ownership.
Leaving business succession planning to chance could allow someone to decide what happens to your business, potentially at a significant cost.
If you are interested in attending, please contact Sheila Smith (576-7465 or sheila_d_smith@scotiamcleod.com) or Chris Schwartz (576-1387 or

Breakfast will be served. Limited seating available.
