On March 29, 2008, cities around the world will turn off their lights for Earth Hour, a World Wildlife Fund event to raise awareness about climate change and symbolize that, working together the people of the world can make a difference in the fight against climate change.
Earth Hour has grown from a single event in Sydney, Australia in 2007 to a global phenomenon that will occur across six continents in 2008.
Participants my register at www.earthhour.org
This is a symbolic action on a global scale. It is also an opportunity to spend a quiet hour with family or friends around a fireplace or in the glow of candlelight, to star-gaze in the city, or to take some other meaningful personal action.
It costs nothing. It could be fun. And it might inspire us to make little changes in how we live that will make a big difference on the earth for all of us.
The DDC extends the invitation to its members to participate and remember.....
Lights off at 8!
I want to thank the DDC for posting my invitation to participate in Earth Hour 2008. And special thanks for businesses who did participate. I look forward to Earth Hour 2009 and to 365 days of practicing care for the earth in the meantime
