DOWNTOWN CHRISTMAS PARADE A HUGE SUCCESS! NOVEMBER 25, 2007 November 25, 2007

A beautiful sunny day drew an estimated crowd of over 60,000 Downtown to see Santa and his cast of clowns, characters and floats. Congratulations and thanks to all Parade participants, volunteers and spectators.

The winners of today's Parade are:

Large Float (over 20 feet):
1. Provincial Airlines
2. Kid Connection
3. Eastern Avalon Area Scouts Canada

Small Float (under 20 feet):
1. City of St. John’s
2. Mr. Rooter Plumbing
3. St. John’s Military Resource Centre

Best Band:
1. Shriners
2. 2895 Enright Memorial Army Cadet Band
3. 2415 Gonzaga Air Cadets

Best Cheerleading Group:
1. St. Paul’s
2. St. Peter’s
3. PWC

Best Performing Group:
1. Barbara Ashley School of Dance
2. Fusion Dance Studio
3. Connie Parsons School of Dance

The staff of Newfoundland Power collected over 20,000 pounds of food along the route which is equal to $40,000 worth of groceries for the Community Food Sharing Association. Over $6,000.00 in loonies and toonies collected as well.
